Mission
- To advocate for all members and the profession;
- To support a positive learning environment for students and educators;
- To develop leadership and decision making skills within our membership;
- To facilitate change and to collaborate within the educational community.
Governance
KEA members determine the positions, the direction and activities of the union through their elected representatives
on most matters. However, votes of the entire membership are taken on major decisions such as the election of Officers
and ratification of contracts.
Elected leaders set policy. Educators who serve in the leadership positions of the KEA are elected by the general
membership. KEA Executive Board members are elected by the Representative Council each year. Members of the Representative
Council are elected by building members and member specialist groups within the school district.
